About The Role
Chrysos Corporation is headquartered in Adelaide, South Australia. Chrysos develops and builds X-ray instruments for compositional analysis for the Mining, Minerals Processing, and Exploration Industry. We aim to replace conventional, chemistry-based analysis methods such as Fire Assay in minerals applications around the world.
Our core product offering is the Chrysos PhotonAssay™ technology that provides rapid assays for gold, silver, copper, and other related elements and is based on ground-breaking research conducted by the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). Chrysos PhotonAssay™ units are being deployed to both commercial laboratories and mine site locations around the world.
This is a “hunter” sales role, and you are driven by converting Mining and Exploration projects across Africa to adopt PhotonAssay™ Technology. As a member of the Global Growth Group, this role assumes responsibility for PhotonAssay™ sales growth throughout Africa within your defined portfolio. A key function of this role is to grow PhotonAssay™ market share by developing, implementing, and selling compelling value propositions to address customers’ needs. You will have strong origination skills driving identification and delivery of new commercial business opportunities, directly impacting the company’s rate of growth. You will work closely with the existing African Sales and Technical Service Team Members.
You will be skilled at developing and maintaining high-quality, high-level relationships with new and existing clients. You will be the principal Chrysos communication window through which all client interactions during the sales process are facilitated and coordinated, both technical and non-technical, until contract conclusion and handover to Operations execution.
Success in this role will be measured by the candidate’s ability to engage and collaborate within the existing high-performance African Sales and Technical Services team, drive their part of the strategic sales plan with a long-term view to convert Mining and Exploration projects to the use of PhotonAssay™.
You will promote the Chrysos PhotonAssay™ brand and technology with target markets and customers; building long term sustainable relationships with significant customers in the resources industry which will continue to create growth opportunities for Chrysos Corporation.
Business Organisation
What you will do:
- Formulate plans to provide for sustainable and cost-effective growth, by supporting development of a pipeline of potential sales opportunities
- Actively develop new sales opportunities by establishing contact and developing relationships with prospects; to ultimately recommend solutions and close sales
- Convert pipeline opportunities into sales of Chrysos PhotonAssay™ into the allocated regional/customer market.
- Management of Chrysos’ presence at industry conferences and trade shows; produce tangible new leads and sales pipeline opportunities from these events
- Developing and maintaining high quality relationships with new and existing clients
Sales & Marketing Activities
- Prepare individual sales action plans in line with the overall sales strategy to ensure a targeted and focused approach that consistently contributes to top line revenue growth
- Implement the agreed strategies within the allocated portfolio.
- Recognise business opportunities by identifying prospects and researching their position in the industry, researching, and analysing tactical sales options.
- Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending service improvements
- Strategically identify growth opportunities through sales development and market-based information
- Develop, manage, and maintain CRM records (Using HubSpot CRM) in line with policy and the CRM strategy
- Work closely in conjunction with the technical studies personnel to ensure the value proposition is appropriately represented to the market
- Provide effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders with a commitment to customer service excellence
- Establish client needs, develop appropriate solutions, and compile professional responses to all requests for quotations and tenders
- Provide feedback to managers regarding client complaint/issues
Client Interface
- Principal client interface on all matters relating to the sales process for your specific portfolio of target clients of PhotonAssay™ until both contract execution and operational handover is concluded.
- Develop sufficient technical understanding to accurately represent PhotonAssay™ capabilities and be technical enough with client interfacing activities (with an ability to recognise when to engage further Chrysos technical expertise for more in-depth technical aspects)
- Maintain active client contact schedule, in accordance with sales plans and any key account management plan
- Develop value in use cases
- Ensure that clients understand the complete interface cycle, including the initial meeting of our credit requirements and adherence to payment terms
- Engage in selective extra-curricular activities to maintain a healthy network of associates
- Liaise with necessary industry bodies, government departments and associations to keep abreast of the market
Customer Relationship Management And Reporting
- Identify and qualify likely customers in customer portfolio as allocated
- Cultivate strong relationships and establish new business development opportunities
- Collaborate closely with other PhotonAssay™ Sales Managers where business opportunities emerge across regions with global customers
- Understand, define, and disseminate needs from the market and customers
- Ensure that all important customer details and interactions are captured within the CRM package (HubSpot), Monday Boards, and other centralised repository for project intel
- Regularly capture and share market intelligence
- Use of S&P Global Database for research and target development
- Produce timely, accurate reports, as required
- Liaise with clients to identify changing requirements and meet satisfaction levels
Preparation Of Technical And Commercial Proposals
- Collaborate with the global growth, operations, development, and finance teams to build capacity and extend service offering of Chrysos PhotonAssay™
- Perform economic analysis of business opportunities and associated risks
- Develop and communicate strong knowledge of the product and the market for Chrysos PhotonAssay™
- With support from the Principal Lead, Technical Studies, prepare and issue high quality technical due diligence and techno-economic proposals for potential customers, and follow through on these to complete sales of PhotonAssay™.
- With support of the Principal Lead, Technical Studies, coordinate, and present technical due diligence results to client stakeholders
General Activities
- Participate in industry events including trade shows, conferences, and conventions
- Pursue opportunities to expand the company profile and client relationship
- May be assigned special or related ad hoc projects from time-to-time
- Be compliant to all Chrysos QHSE and HR policies and procedures
- At all times, comply with Chrysos Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct
Essential
Who you are:
- University Degree qualifications in Geology, Geochemistry, Metallurgy, or other relevant Geoscience related disciplines
- 5 years minimum of proven record of achievement and extensive experience in technical sales, business development and marketing in the mining and resources industry
- Ability to develop sufficient technical understanding to accurately represent PhotonAssay™ capabilities and translate the technology offering into higher level business propositions
- Demonstrated ability in implementing effective sales strategies with tangible outcomes in the mining and resources industry.
- Extensive experience of achievement in the sales of mineral testing services, analytical technologies or scientific instrumentation applied to the mining and resources industry
- Extensive experience in a mineral testing and analysis laboratory environment, mining consultancy group, scientific instrumentation, or mining company
- Previous experience with new and emerging technologies in the mining industry
- Experience in sample preparation and analytical technologies applied to the minerals industry, especially for Gold and Base Metals
- Ability to understand key drivers for Gold, base metals across geology, mining, and processing
- Able and willing to travel and work around all of Africa, including Southern and Eastern Africa and overseas, including at remote locations such as mine sites (when possible) to meet face to face with clients
- High quality written and oral communication, very good personal presentation skills, and competent in use of Microsoft Office suite of products
- Experience with S&P Global Database software
- Experience with HubSpot CRM or similar CRM software
- Experience in the preparation of high-quality proposals and tenders
- English fluency a requirement, ability to speak a second language an asset
- Full working rights in your country of residence
Desirable
- Experience in working with external stakeholders such as technical managers, procurement managers, and senior level executive decision makers
- Solid understanding of business management processes and basic financial analysis
- Extensive existing network within the mining sector
