Job Title: Medical Doctor / Family Nurse Practitioner
Location: WAJAMAMA Wellness Center in Zanzibar, Tanzania
Reports to: Managing Director
Position Overview:
WAJAMAMA Wellness Center, Zanzibar’s first holistic healthcare center, is seeking dedicated Medical Doctors and Family or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioners to join our innovative team. Our focus is on disease prevention and health promotion, providing trauma-informed care that supports the holistic well-being of our patients. We are looking for passionate healthcare professionals with a strong interest in preventive medicine, family health, pediatrics, women’s health, and comprehensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive primary care services, focusing on preventive health, women’s health, and pediatric care.
- Conduct patient assessments, including detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and relevant diagnostic procedures.
- Develop tailored health plans that prioritize preventive measures and involve patients in their health journey.
- Provide trauma-informed, respectful, and evidence-based care to patients of all ages, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Engage in health education and awareness initiatives, including the development and facilitation of community workshops on women’s health, children’s health, and preventive care practices.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic approaches to patient care, including nutritionists, mental health professionals, and wellness coaches.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in primary care, preventive medicine, and holistic practices through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree (MD) or a Board-Certified Family or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner certification from an accredited institution; valid licensure to practice in Zanzibar.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a primary care setting, preferably with a focus on pediatrics, family health, and/or women’s health. New graduates who are enthusiastic and coachable are also encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrated passion for preventive medicine and holistic health practices.
- Experience conducting workshops and community health education sessions is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills that foster trust and collaboration.
- A commitment to providing safe, respectful, and evidence-based care to diverse patient populations.
- Willingness to continuously learn and apply new knowledge in clinical practice.
- Fluency in English and Swahili is preferred.
