Job Title: Healthcare Laboratory Technician
Location: Dar es Salaam
A Healthcare Laboratory Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare industry by conducting diagnostic tests and experiments on patient samples. We are urgently seeking a committed and ambitious individual to fill this position in our healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Collection and Handling:
– Collect patient samples such as blood, urine, and tissue specimens.
– Ensure samples are properly labeled, stored, and transported to the laboratory for analysis.
- Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
– Perform diagnostic tests on patient samples following strict protocols and procedures.
– Analyze blood chemistry, microbiological examinations, hematology assays, and other tests.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
– Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, centrifuges, and automated analyzers.
– Ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Quality Control:
– Execute quality control processes to validate the accuracy of laboratory tests.
– Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and rectify inconsistencies in test results.
- Data Management:
– Accurately record and document test results.
– Maintain detailed laboratory records and archives.
- Safety and Compliance:
– Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for handling biohazardous materials.
– Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and laboratory standards.
- Communication and Reporting:
– Communicate and report test results to medical professionals.
– Provide information to physicians for diagnosing and treating patients.
- Inventory Management:
– Order and maintain an inventory of laboratory supplies.
– Ensure that necessary materials for testing are always available.
Skills and Qualifications:
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
– Experience: Relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
– Skills: Strong analytical and technical skills, attention to detail, proficiency in laboratory equipment, and excellent communication abilities.
Working Conditions:
– Environment: Primarily work in clinical laboratories, hospitals, or healthcare facilities.
– Hours: May include shifts, weekends, and on-call duties.
