About Us:

Painted Dog Enterprises is a premium craft gin distillery in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Our brand celebrates the unique flavors of Tanzania, appealing to tourists, and the domestic market. As we aim to expand into the local and regional markets, we seek a dynamic and skilled Operations Manager to lead our operations and help us scale sustainably.  We intend to be the gin of East Africa – the standard pouring gin at all mid and upper-level hospitality locations.

In the medium-term, we will assess the market for other premium alcoholic products to add to our portfolio.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight:

• Oversee daily operations of the distillery, including production, logistics, and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as quality control standards for our craft gin.
• Optimize workflows and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
• Ensure proper inventory of supplies, equipment, and ingredients to avoid stock-outs. This will involve liaising with international suppliers and logistics providers.

 

Sales Expansion:

• Collaborate with the marketing and branding team to develop strategies for broadening our market while maintaining the brand’s premium appeal.
• Support product innovation and packaging strategies to attract diverse customer segments.
• Identify and develop partnerships with local distributors, bars, restaurants, and retail outlets.
• Design and oversee systems to ensure product is being placed and used correctly, and that re-orders are seamless.

 

Financial Management:

• Manage the operations budget, focusing on cost control and profitability.
• Evaluate return on investment of promotions/events to create a framework for deciding when to promote.
• Monitor production costs and work with procurement to source high-quality ingredients and materials at competitive prices.

 

Customer Experience:

• Maintain a high standard of customer service by ensuring timely delivery of products to all customer segments.
• Maintain regular communications with distribution, hospitality, and retail segments.

 

Requirements:  

• Experience: 3-5 years in operations management, or sales, preferably in FMCG, or hospitality industries.
•  Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
•  Ability to manage teams and work cross-functionally.
•  A deep understanding of the Tanzanian market is a plus.
• Fluency in English and Swahili is required.
